Every year, Durga Puja heralds a season of festivities and celebrations. Durga Puja has always been my favourite festival since childhood because I feel greatly devoted to the Supreme Goddess, the Mother of the Universe – Maa Durga , who descend on earth along with her children Ganesha, Lakshmi, Saraswati and Kartikeya.
Since last year, after being gifted a Nikon Coolpix S3300, I have grown a fondness for clicking pictures of the clay idols of the Goddess and Her children, adorned in beautiful attire and colourful jewellery. In fact, some idols are presented in quite unique ways, which invites awe and wonder from the onlookers.
Here are some pictures which I have clicked in this year’s Durga Puja. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I have enjoyed clicking them.
Some idols were based on certain themes:
Theme: Nature Conservation
Theme: Dholakpur of “Chota Bheem” cartoon show on Pogo
Theme: UV lights
And the rest were simple idols which weren’t based on any particular theme, yet they were exquisitely beautiful.
And finally, there was a really miniature version of the idols. The size of this idol was only 1.5 feet high! I found it so adorable!
Looking forward to Durga Puja 2015 for more wonderful idols of the Goddess and Her children.
